“Church family, please pray for Kathy Stanley, Tresa Ewbank, their brother Jim Upton, and all of their family as they honor the passing of their mother, Lela Upton. We informed you of Lela’s entry into heaven during last Sunday morning’s service but waited for the obituary to share it here. Lela was and is such a wonderful lady. Her smile lit up the room so easily! She fought sickness in her body, but is completely healed now, worshiping her Savior face to face! We will miss her for a short while, but I’m so thankful for the hope of eternal life!! We’ll get to see her again – and for much longer than her life here on this earth ever was! No more sickness, no pain, no crying over there, forever to be with Jesus!! What a day that will be!!! Her obituary is shared below:
Lela Mae (Honn) Upton, 83, of Ellettsville passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at home. She was born on August 3, 1939, in Patricksburg, Indiana; the daughter of Elvin and Lollie (Graham) Honn.
Lela was a member of Ellettsville’s First Assembly of God. She loved to travel, camp, bake and cook for her family and friends. She worked at G.E. in Bloomington, Indiana. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be greatly missed.
Lela is survived by her daughter, Tresa Ewbank (Jeff), son Jim Upton, daughter Kathy Stanley (Mike), one sister, Norma Herrington, 18 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Upton; daughter, Tammy Patterson; son, Chuck Upton; grandson, Craig Stanley; granddaughter, Valerie Mills; her parents; six sisters, infant twin sisters Goldie Honn and Marie Honn, Geneva Chaney, Mary Russell, Jean Clark and Loretta Morris; and three brothers, Charles, William, and Richard Honn.”
